Lake District #2 - Pike o'Blisco & Blea Tarn From Side Pike
I like finding areas or views that don't usually feature on most people's "bucket list" ideas. The Lake District has so many nooks and crannies that aren't seen, unless you're prepared to go the "extra mile"....or, in this case, the extra couple of feet.
This image was made on an early morning shoot in Great Langdale (you can see the reason if you look here). After I made the image I'd been looking for, I decided to take a less obvious path down, rounded the top of Side Pike, and came across this view.
Somewhat different from my usual modus operandi, the valley was still in deep shadow along one side, as the sun was still climbing just after dawn. The high haze meant that the south facing side of the valley walls weren't too harshly lit, and I could just bring out enough details in the shadowed areas to give a complete picture of the valley sides.
The sun had just hit Blea Tarn and the tips of Blisco Pike, giving a centre point and a nice rear frame to complete my view of this little ventured area. I love places like these in the lakes; quiet, unspoilt patches that allow you to sit and think and ponder.
