Scotland #7 - Towards Loch Hourn from Armadale
Scotland #7 - Towards Loch Hourn from Armadale
On this trip, we stayed in the tiny village of Ardvasar, on the south western peninsula of Skye. It's pretty much as far as you can go...the end of the road is about 2 miles down the track.....then you're in the Atlantic.
The weather was typical Skye....from rain to sun in the space of a few seconds, which is tricky for making clothing choices. But the upside is scenes like this.
Walking the dog early in the morning, just after the sun cleared the peaks on the mainland, the clouds cleared just enough to present me with this tempestuous vista.
This was taken from Ardvasar boatyard, looking north east towards the entrance to Loch Hourn, across Kyle Rhea. They're canny folk on Skye; if you look just beyond the small outcrop of rocks lower frame left, you'll see the main body of water is quite rough, but the bay near the boatyard is flat and calm.....there is a channel going out, but you need to know what you're doing to navigate it!
