Scotland #2 - Towards Sgùrr nan Gillean over Loch Leathan, Isle of Skye
Whilst the Old Man Of Storr and The Storr ridge are pretty dramatic, the light (and number of people!) when I visited meant I would have to wait and fight for an image I was pleased with.......so I turned round 180 degrees.....
....and saw this pretty dramatic confluence of clouds, water and distant mountains. I made several views but this was the 'keeper'......and, as usual, it was the first one I shot! I should have learnt by now to trust my own instincts, but when I was unlikely to return to this locale in the foreseeable future, one likes to make sure.
The "turning around" thing is an action I'd recommend to all artists. As human animals, we're programmed to look straight ahead, and rarely use our peripheral vision or our neck muscles. This is a good habit/trait to break. If I'm walking in scenery, I usually spin round 180 degrees every few minutes....I get lots of funny looks from my companions, but I also get to make some great images.
