Scotland #12 - The Ochil Hills from The Knock of Crief

When you think of Scotland's landscapes, you rarely think of the kind of bucolic stillness normally associated with the gentler countryside of south west England.  Yet here we are, just inland from the eastern coastal town of Perth; some of the best arable land in all of Britain, highlighted in all its glory.

This area, just southwest of where Scotland's great peaks start, is a much gentler side of the country.  Although there are hills in the distance, they are gentle and rolling, not like their towering cousins in the Grampians or Cairngorms.  

But don't be too fooled; look out into the distance and you can see some heavy storms rolling in off the North Sea.  As always in Scotland, best to dress for every eventuality.
