Northumberland #11 - Low Tide, Budle Bay

Lying just to the north of Bamburgh, Budle Bay lies on the Northumberland coast south of Lindisfarne, and is one of Northumberland's 'hidden' gems.

A great favourite of the bird watching community, at low tide the North Sea retreats for almost 1km, exposing a myriad of salt flats, pools and sand banks, along with all their associated wildlife.

Taken just south of the point the Waren Burn leaves the mainland, I've tried to encapsulate the feeling of almost infinite space that can exist at this spot.

Just beware the turning tide!  If you venture out onto the flats, make sure you keep an eye on your tide times.
