Lake District #6 - Towards Helvellyn & Fairfield Peak, from Matterdale
Lake District #6 - Towards Helvellyn & Fairfield Peak, from Matterdale
Sometimes, it's good to remember that 'The Lakes' aren't all about huge peaks and rolling bodies of water. Sometimes, it's good to remember that they are also a landscape in its' own entirety.
By which I mean that, taken as a whole, they are a combination of both dramatic physical geography and also smaller, more intimate tableaux. They have facets that are not often seen, which I think is a shame.
Because if you step back and take time to walk some of the more untrodden paths, you come across scenes like this. Equally as dramatic as some of the shots taken from on high, but small enough to help you appreciate the hidden details of one of England's most fabulous pieces of countryside.
The trees are everything here; taken in early spring, before the buds have started to show, I hope the shot gives an insight into other ways this geography never stops providing food for the soul.
